Our extensive line of deflashing media offers plastic molders various options for deflashing plastic parts without having to worry about particle lodging. Polycarbonate grade (PC) is best for tough deflashing applications, while polyamide grade (PA) is tailored toward appearance parts. For smaller, more sensitive parts we offer a polystyrene grade (PB).
The media is blasted by means of a turbine blast wheel rotating at speeds of up to 6,000 RPM, or by air pressure nozzles at up to 90 PSI (6 bar). Where the two mold halves meet, flash, or burrs, is created. Upon impact with the media, the flash breaks off in an approximately 3-5 minute cycle, resulting in perfectly clean and deflashed plastic parts ready for assembly.
