Mold Cleaning
The Maxi-Blast Mold Cleaning System is the ideal method for cleaning molds, dies, and tooling with speed and efficiency. Molds can be cleaned up to ten times faster than with chemicals and returned to production with minimal downtime. Molds do not have to be disassembled for cleaning because the system holds the entire mold, and the plastic media effectively cleans hard to reach areas, such as small cavities and corners. Hand cleaning, before and after blasting, is usually eliminated.

Cryogenic Rubber Deflashing
Maxi-Blast cryogenic grade shot-blast deflashing media is recognized worldwide as the first media developed specifically for cryogenic deflashing. It is also well known to be the most effective and longest lasting product for deflashing many types of rubber parts in cryogenic shot-blast deflashing machines. In the cryogenic shot-blast deflashing process, the patented Maxi-Blast Cryogenic Grade Polycarbonate media is blasted at the parts by means of a turbine blast wheel spinning at speeds up to 6,000-10,000 RPM. The media impacts parts being tumbled in the blast machine and frozen by means of liquid nitrogen. The temperature can reach -300 degrees Fahrenheit effectively freezing the flash which is created during the rubber molding process where the mold halves meet. This process will very quickly deflash the parts in a typically 3-5 minute cycle and when the parts emerge from the blast system and warm to room temperature they are perfectly shaped with no signs of flash or damage.

Plastics Deflashing
Thermoset Plastic Parts Deflashing with Maxi-Blast plastic blast media is another one of the applications Maxi-Blast pioneered. Whether using 'PA' media for appearance parts, 'PC' media for the tough deflashing applications, or 'PB' for very small sensitive parts or parts with tiny holes, Maxi-Blast can fulfill your deflashing needs. The tiny plastic blasting pellets meticulously extruded from amorphous polycarbonate plastic, polyamide/nylon 6 or cross-linked polystyrene are blasted by means of a turbine blast wheel rotating at speeds of up to 6000 RPM or by air pressure nozzles at up to 90 PSI (6 bar). The parts have flash (like burrs) caused during the molding process in the areas where two mold halves meet. Upon impact, the flash breaks off and in a typical 3-5 minute cycle, you have perfectly clean and deflashed plastic parts ready for assembly.

Metal Deburring
Deburring metal parts with Maxi-Blast plastic media is a unique and very effective application. Many zinc and aluminum die castings merely need light deburring without affecting the part surface. MB, PC and PA media work very well for this non-abrasive deburring. Also, machined metal parts have loose burrs that can easily be blasted away with plastic media without affecting the surface in any way. Many intricate parts produced from Zinc and aluminum and machined metal are deflashed in this manner. Huge time savings can be achieved with either ambient or cryogenic deflashing/deburring of zinc and aluminum and machined metal parts in 3-5 minute cycles as opposed to old style vibratory tumbling, which can take 30-60 minutes to wear away burrs. This can be done by either turbine wheel blasting or by air pressure blasting. Also, with plastic media deburring, the surfaces and edges are perfectly sharp and in as diecast or machined condition as opposed to tumbling and vibratory deburring, which slowly wears down edges and roughens surfaces.

Metal deburring has never been easier.

Electronics Deflashing
Deflash and remove resin bleed from transfer molded electronic components including transistors, resistors, capacitors, thyristors, opto-sensors, and many other IC Components. Many sizes and hardnesses of plastic media are available for use depending on the type of electronic parts to be cleaned from robust TO-220’s to tiny sized SOT – 89’s.
